How is Galileo different from insurance?
Galileo is not insurance. We are a health care service that makes it easy for you to text or video chat with a team of board-certified doctors 24/7 via mobile app.

In a traditional health care model, a provider offers medical services that may be paid for, partially or fully, by an insurer—most times, you cover the difference.

Galileo is the provider, and your membership (whether paid for by you, your employer, or your health plan) covers the cost of all care that is conducted within the app.
What if I need to see someone in person?
Galileo provides referrals for specialist visits or labs. If you have insurance, we’ll stay in-network with your insurance whenever possible.

By using Galileo to request a referral, you don’t need to schedule, wait for, and go to a doctor’s office to ask them to send you to a different doctor—instead, you can do this through your phone, saving you time and money.
What's covered and not covered by the Galileo membership?
When you sign up for a Galileo membership, all of your care within the app is covered by your monthly or annual fee. This includes doctor consults, prescription requests and renewals, specialist referrals (but not the in-person visit itself), and lab requests (again, not the in-person visit itself).
I have a medical emergency, can you help?
In the event of a medical emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. We are happy to assist in your follow up care.
What medications can I have filled?
Galileo physicians can prescribe a wide range of medications for common issues and complex and chronic conditions.

However, we do not issue prescriptions for drugs that have been designated as controlled substances by the DEA.

If you are unsure of whether your medication is a controlled substance, please reach out to support@galileohealth.com.

Otherwise, our Galileo physicians are available 24/7 to ensure that your medical needs are met.
How will I be billed/charged for my medication?
You will be billed/charged through your selected pharmacy. Our team can help you research discount code options for specific medications—reach out to us at support@galileo.io with questions about this.
Will my medication be covered by my insurance?
This depends on your insurance plan and the specific medication. Our support team is here to guide you towards information about your insurance coverage and prescription costs. You can reach us at support@galileo.io with any questions.
Does Galileo accept Medicaid?
While Galileo is not a provider for traditional fee-for-service Medicaid, it is an in-network provider for select Medicaid managed care plans in New York and North Carolina.

If you sign up for our membership, please note it is not insurance. Your membership fee pays for services you receive within the Galileo app, includes immediate access to our team of expert doctors, medical consultations and advice, consolidation of your medical records, health reminders and more.

If your treatment plan includes a prescription, lab or a referral - your Medicaid program or plan can typically be applied for coverage of expenses outside of our services. We will do our best to alert you of cases where prescription medications, labs, or visits to referred specialists may not be covered by your Medicaid program or plan.
